Mesón Cafe is a small cafe located in the Larchmont/Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. Chef Diego Bernal opened the restaurant in 2015, and has seen great success in a short amount of time.
Mesón Cafe has never had a complete logo. They had one "mark" on their storefront window, another hand-painted mark on their storefront signage, and another on their website. Below is the most recognizable wordmark since the cafe's opening.
The new logo capture's the essence of the owner's heritage with a classic, welcoming, rustic font, while also adding a more modern look by encasing the wordmark in a bold, clean circle. The font, Deseada, originally designed by the Barcelona-based digital typefoundry, Type-Ø-Tones, was altered to fit the needs of the wordform, and arched to resemble that of a Spanish-style doorway into a family's home.
